ORIOL ANDRÉS GALLART (Barcelona, 1982)
I am Beirut-based journalist and documentary filmmaker. Currently, I work freelancer as a member of Contrast Journalist Group and at the same time I co-coordinate the International desk of Directa magazine. Mainly, I work covering conflicts (not wars) and situations where Human Rights are infringed. I have worked in Europe, the Balkans, Africa and the Middle East for press, radio and television. Since 2009, I have also worked as documentary filmmaker. I have participated in several projects of communication for development.

* ‘Hot water’ doc
This short film from Oxfam’s projects in Lebanon shows how with few jobs to go round, and increasingly harsh conditions, a little hot water goes a long way to keeping people warm through the winter months.

* After peace project
Seven chapter documentary series, on countries that suffered different types of conflict in the last quarter century, and have built the peace once peace agreements were signed. Chapters have been produced about: Bosnia, Lebanon, Rwanda and Guatemala.

A documentary about the non-violent disobedience movement in the Basque Country.
A documentary about daily life in the Dadaab refugee camp, in Kenya; the largest camp in the world.
* Losing the thread
A documentary that examines the difficulty of tracing the manufacturing of uniforms worn by the European Public Administrations’ police, firemen, garden workers, etc. and the working conditions of the people who produce them.
